Rare and amazing 1950s Christian Dior "New Look" cocktail evening dress. The dress is exemplary of Dior's new look - it includes a pleated full skirt ending at the calves, a cinched waist, and a fitted bodice. The dress features a sweetheart neckline that gives way to short sleeves, and a rectangular bow in front further accenting the narrow waist. The dress is composed of a sumptuous black silk satin with sprays of brilliant cobalt blue cornflowers underscored by delicately textured cut velvet petals.
