Instituted May 10 1881. Type I (1881-1941). Civil Division. In silver gilt, a red and white enamelled Maltese Cross, with cyphers of Carol I in each quadrant, the obverse medallion featuring a crown encircled by a white ring inscribed PRIN NOI INSINE 14 MARTIE 1881, the reverse medallion features the dates 1866 1877 1881 with 10.MAIU in the center, measures 61.2 mm (w) x 62.3 mm (h), marked on the ring AF denoting Josef Resch and Fiu, with a silver hallmark, worn on original ribbon (1881-1932 version), bearing discolouration and areas of wear, overall enamels intact, areas of gilt wear, in extremely fine condition.
